“Do you
want to swap a loaf of homemade bread for a batch of your yoghurt?” asked my
friend recently. Hell yes!! I thought…
To give you
a little bit of background info I recently started making yoghurt in this super
compact little yoghurt machine which, over a 10hrs period, produces 7 little
glass jar of yoghurt. It’s sooo easy. You need 1 liter of milk (organic whole
milk for best results) and 1 small pot of natural yoghurt (organic full fat for
best result) to produce 7 small jars of yoghurt. And the best thing is that
after your first batch you can use your own yoghurt for the next batches for up
to 10 times. It’s creamy, super fresh and more delicious than any yoghurt I’ve
ever tasted before. Plus eating out of a glass jar just makes it so much better
than the plastic pots. I think the machine already paid for itself as we
started consuming a serious amount natural yoghurt weekly since we have the
machine. We eat it for breakfast, blend it into smoothies, mix it into baby
food and also enjoy it as dessert with fruits or compotes.
It was not
planned at all but almost at the same time one of our best friends and close neighbor got into making his own bread from scratch. If you think I’m a foodie
wait until you meet him. He means serious business when it comes to food. And oh
my, his bread is amazing and delivered when still hot!!! One of life greatest
pleasure has to be taking the first slice of freshly baked homemade bread.
Our little
weekly event got me thinking. How cool would it be to have a circle of
trusted friends and foodies who are all specializing in a different type of home
made deliciousness’ and began swapping every week. Bread, yoghurt, jam and God knows
what else are being made with love and care in modern foodie households. Wouldn’t
it be awesome!? A food swap shop! :) Any takers?
The big jar
in the photo contains 6 of the small jars and 1 left for the next batch. What a
deal!
